Salta

Salta is located in northern Argentina, about a 20 hr. bus ride from Buenos Aires. It's known for having massive salt flats outside of the city. While there I saw an Incan parade and hiked to the top of the nearby hill that looks down on the city (you can either hike the 1,024 steps or take the tramway). At the top are several man-made waterfalls both big and small. Great hosteling experience... met people from Holland, Germany, San Francisco, Britain, Switzerland, and Norway. One British guy had too much to drink one night and took a solid 7 ft. fall off of his bunk bed while asleep - luckily he was alright
